In short, Career Development Application and Research Centres (KARGEM) are centres that provide information and services to help young people in the transition to adulthood and in the process of starting a job (Schutt Jr., 2008). The role of career centres is to assist individuals in creating and implementing their career plans. It is also among the duties of the centres to increase the motivation of individuals in the career development process and to help them become proactive individuals (Niles, 2002).
Career development process at individual level basically consists of the sum of the questions ‘Who am I?’, ‘Where am I going?’, ‘How do I get where I want to go?’. By asking the question ‘Who am I?’, the characteristics of the individual are tried to be analysed in the process. The question ‘Where am I going?’ reveals information about the destination; career information, market information, career research, short and long term goals. These two elements combine and form the action plan element that will be the answer to the question ‘How do I get to where I want to go?’ (Schutt Jr., 2008).
It may be possible to get satisfactory answers to the above questions with career counselling services to be provided to individuals in the career development process. Muş Alparslan University Career Development Application and Research Centre helps students and graduates in their career development by providing career counselling services with its expert staff.
